We Want This Now: Moda Operandi's Punk-Inspired Collection

Luxury e-commerce site Moda Operandi are getting all up on the Met Museum’s ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture‘ exhibition bandwagon, by releasing a special collection of punk-inspired clothing by some of the industry’s greats. Labels like Balmain, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, Thom Browne and more, are adding their anarchic creations to the mix, and they’ll all be officially available to buy on May 2. Each high-end brand has reached deep into their depths of their counter-cultural imaginations, to create exclusive pieces that pay homage to the aesthetic revolution that was punk. Yay! While some hard-core punk-sympathisers might be thinking “Eff the fashion system, man”, others (who can afford to shop regularly on Moda Operandi), will be like, “Damn, this shit is good!” And with more designers like Prabal Gurung, Moschino and Tom Binns signing on to add their punky pieces; they would be right! It is good.
Why, just look at the gallery! These clothes are not your average latex Hellfire get-up. They’re brilliant, they’re black and they all look great paired back with a harness and/or chain mail. Perfect for the modern day Wiccan, who prefers a structured look. All joking aside (we weren’t joking), these pieces are definitely fit for a punk fashion tribute. As Moda Operandi’s Co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo put it, “We are thrilled to offer women [or men!] the opportunity to capture the spirit of punk with pieces that balance high fashion and rebellion.” So true. Nothing says ‘rebel’ like spending between $100 and $13,000US on a punk tribute outfit.
